Sisters Lia and Claire are group fitness class royalty!
They’re a friend of all… but don’t get them confused, they’re not actually the same person!
So who joined first?
Lia: I joined first, in 2014. I joined when my son was about four I think. I moved down to Perth from Mandurah to be closer to the family. I moved next door to my sister! My son was still young enough to come to the creche.
Claire: I joined next, in 2015. She said I should come along. I’d just had my son, he was about one. I’d finished playing volleyball. Later on I did my achilles and ended up doing rehab here with a physio.
What’s kept you coming to Beatty Park?
Claire: I think it’s great for variety. There’s so many classes on offer, you can use the pool.
Lia: There’s a good mix of people as well. It’s not pretentious, it’s all very welcoming.
What’s your favourite class and instructor?
Lia: For me it’s Andy’s BODYATTACK, and Throwdown is a close second. I do BODYPUMP 2-3 times a week. My work timetable has changed – I used to do about 15 classes a week. That’s what I like about Beatty Park – my whole work timetable has changed but there’s still enough classes I can choose from.
Claire: BODYATTACK would be my favourite too. I love the music. I love Colin’s Throwdown too!
We know you do lots of classes, but do you swim too?
Lia: I used to use everything earlier on, but now that I’m working full-time I focus more on classes now.
Claire: If it’s a hot day I’ll go for a swim after my class!
Lia: We did a lot of lap swimming when the kids were babies. The kids still come to use the pool.
What do you like about training together?
Claire: On the weekends we come together, which gives us a bit more motivation. Especially if you’re a little hungover or whatever! It’s a bit more of a hangout then just a workout.
Lia: We also like singing along in ATTACK!
