Indoor pool changerooms unveiled at Beatty Park

Beatty Park Leisure Centre swimmers can say goodbye to long wait times with new changerooms opening just in time for summer.

With over one million visitors each year, Beatty Park is regularly at capacity, creating a high demand for additional changerooms to ease congestion during peak periods.

The City of Vincent has built a new facility next to the water slides, in a bid to reduce wait times.

The facility includes changerooms, concourse changing boxes, unisex toilets, a universal accessible toilet and on deck showers.

It is equipped with energy-efficient initiatives including water efficient showers, toilets and basins fixtures, and LED lighting with sensors.

One of the changerooms is fully accessible for people with disability and high support needs and built under the nationally recognised Changing Places model.

This private changeroom features an adjustable adult-sized change table, constant-charging ceiling track hoist system, centrally located peninsula toilet, additional space, automatic door and a privacy screen.

“Our pool users have been needing more changerooms for a long time, so we are delighted to open this new facility,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.

“It is conveniently located right inside the indoor pool area, so families who have little ones, seniors and people who have mobility needs no longer have to walk further up the corridor to access a changeroom or toilet.

“We are especially proud to unveil the new Changing Places accessible changeroom and toilet, which is exclusively available for people with disability and support needs, providing them with a safe and private space to use before and after their swim.

“This addition marks a significant step in improving accessibility, convenience and sustainability at one of our most popular facilities.”
